Deutsche Zentren der Gesundheitsforschung
At the German Center for Infection Research (DZIF), more than 500 researchers from 35 institutions work together on new methods for the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of infectious diseases. The goal of the nationwide alliance of universities, hospitals and research institutions is the rapid, effective translation of research results into clinical practice. In this way, the DZIF paves the way for the development of new vaccines, diagnostics and drugs against infections. A common infrastructure – including biobanks, safety laboratories, drug libraries and study centres – and the dedicated promotion of young researchers as well as collaboration with external partners support the goal of strategically oriented translational research. The DZIF is one of seven German Centers for Health Research (DZG) established by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research to combat major common diseases.
